I have to get back on track! Help me!
Mitch's quest to lose weight… a lot of it.
I have to get back on track! Help me!
Hi Mitch,
It’s been a little while and I saw here on your blog today that you asked for help!
Encouraging you to keep going on your quest for health, weight loss and for your well-being.
This is my personal journey. I did a 10 week program online called Bodyslims. The guy is from Ireland and is a peak performance coach who developed a program to help others lose weight.
This was life changing for me and I am now at my goal weight of 150 pounds. My highest weight recorded was 294.6.
I am still part of a medical weight management program in my province of BC. I did the Optifast program 2 years ago (I read and started following you on this blog through one of the Optifast FB groups) and lost 85 pounds but was struggling with 20 pounds up and down until I found the Bodyslims program last fall, 9 months ago, which I started at 214, and am now 150.4 and fluctuate a few pounds on maintenance during the week. It took me 2 1/2 years to get from my highest weight to goal weight. Have done it before but for 3 decades I struggled with being morbidly obese! I will be 55 at the end of October this year. I have been on diets my whole life!!!
Learning to live in maintenance and deal with daily habits and choices eating wise and exercise wise. I walk daily for 1 hour and when weather is really bad I use my spin bike and ride for 1 hour. I use myfitnesspal and track my food daily for now to help me stay on track.
Whatever method of support you use and choose, don’t give up! We have to pick our hard as maintenance and losing weight is not easy but being morbidly obese is not easy as well! Personally been both and do not want to go backwards! I choose to keep at staying slimmer and all the benefits I have now. I can wear what I want and buy in regular stores. Have so many non scale victories and life is better but will never be perfect!
I personally still struggle with a little loose skin (not as bad as it was now that I am at goal weight) and am older so body doesn’t look as nice but in clothes I look better and slimmer.
I thought weight loss would fix all my energy issues but I still struggle with chronic fatigue and am working on helping myself with this by eating healthy, whole foods, watching my sugar intake, my exercise, how much and intensity, and sleep, resting when I need too etc.
Life still goes on regardless of what weight we are but from personal experience, I like being smaller but I have to choose everyday to STILL make healthy choices and get out and do my walks, etc.
I got sick from a bag of salad and got listeria which threw me for a loop and caused some health challenges for me that I am currently dealing with, gut, digestive issues, energy issues, etc. Not fun!!! I still have stress and life keeps going with it’s ups and downs and what living brings daily!
I know this is a long email and I hope it brings you some encouragement, no pressure to do any program or anything I suggested. This was and is my journey and just wanted to let you know I struggle still and just keep going daily. My habits are better and again my DAILY choices are as well which reflect my weight, my mood etc., but I keep going and doing what I need too daily. Some days are better than other days.
Thinking of you Mitch. You are worth all the effort it takes to get yourself to your goals!
Is it easy no but we get to choose our hard!
Daily choices, habits, and consistency are key. I encourage you to keep at it!
Also, so sorry you are going through a hard time and a separation or divorce from your wife. Prayers and hugs of comfort to you! Glad you got away and had time with friends in Cuba!
I have attached a picture of me at a heavy weight around 285 pounds, not my highest but close to it and at around my goal weight now of 150 pounds.
Thinking of you,
Your (diet) friend,
Connie Staniland ðð
